Jinil Patel
I am Jinil Patel, 3rd Year Electrical Engineering Student and work learn student at UBC Studios. During my work term, I was involved with the 3D Educational Resources project where I created 3D models for Dr. Sally Aitken’s pine cones and Dr. Vincent Leung’s small machinery parts.
The proudest moment for me during this project was knowing that the 3D models that I created are going to make a positive contribution to make learning a better experience during the pandemic and that I am a part of the project that is shaping the ways we adapt to changing circumstances.
By working on this project I improved my teamwork and communications skills and it gave me a valuable experience of professionalism. On the technical side, I got valuable experience in the acquisition process and learned how to use software such as ZBrush, Blender, and Photoshop.
During the project, I worked in diverse teams which is one of the important skills to have in any engineering project that I will take up in the future. I am also more inclined towards project management and this project provided me an excellent opportunity by letting me take the lead of Dr. Aitken’s pine cones and Dr. Leung’s small machinery parts project. Throughout the project, I was constantly communicating with stakeholders to understand their requirements and deliver them exactly what they need. This will help me throughout my career.
